William H. Bailey, the 118th NY's first Captain.
William H. Bailey (1834-1878) raised a company for the 118th NY Infantry from his hometown of Plattsburgh and was appointed its captain. The regiment spent much of 1863 scouting and skirmishing on the Virginia coast.
